Preparation for End of Forbearance Period


With regards to mortgages, many property owners have entered into forbearance agreements as a result of the pandemic. However, these property owners will eventually need to pay their mortgage company the accrued payments —more than likely within the next 3 to 6 months. We anticipate there to be issues relating to these new loan arrangements. Once the Governor’s moritorium on foreclosures ends, we anticipate these arrangements to pose complications, particuarly because lenders will seek to avoid future non-payment issues during the anticipated “second wave” of this pandemic. My office is ready to coordinate these negotiations and work with both parties to reach a mutually agreeable solution. We also stand ready to litigate if the need arisies.
